The always done-up legendary Brit makeup artist to Gisele, Kate, Gwyneth and Penelope—whose eponymous luxury skincare and cosmetics label recently debuted in the US—shares her star-making secrets
I always use my Clarisonic, every day. Nothing cleans so deeply and reaches every angle. I use it in combination with my Multi-Miracle Glow Cleanser. Enriched with arctic cloudberry, it’s a nourishing anti-age balm that transforms into an oil on contact with the Clarisonic to really deep clean and fight wrinkles at the same time.
I follow this with my miracle-working moisturizer Magic Cream to flood the skin with moisture, and then my fabulous Wonderglow. It’s a youth-boosting primer containing breakthrough fluorescent core technology which re-emits natural light through the skin for a lit-from-within effect. I call it Gisele-in-a-Jar!
Overnight skin ritual:
I use my Multi-Miracle Glow 3-in-1 as a cleanser again with my Clarisonic in the evening, and sometimes as an overnight mask to hydrate and recharge my skin. No one has ever seen me without makeup—I even sleep in it! So, after cleansing I reapply a dialed-down smoky eye—I like to call it my bedroom eyes. I also pat on Crème de la Mer The Eye Balm Intense to fight wrinkles.
Who cuts and colors your hair:
My hair is completely natural and I tend to get it trimmed and styled on shoots—Sam McKnight and Malcolm Edwards are hair geniuses! Otherwise, I see Josh Wood at his Atelier in London.
I’ve always been obsessed by ’60s icons like Brigitte Bardot who had that gorgeous back-combed hair with a rock-chick, dishevelled twist. In terms of routine, I don’t do much to my hair, I just wash it with Kerastase and blow dry the fringe with a round brush then dry the roots. I finish with a bit of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and back-comb it with a Mason Pearson hairbrush, teasing to get volume.
Favorite eye look:
I adore The Dolce Vita from my collection. It’s a molten copper and chocolate smoky eye inspired by sultry Mediterranean beauties like Penelope Cruz, Monica Bellucci and Sophia Loren—the colors really make my grey-green eyes pop. I finish this off with a Feline Flick to elongate and lengthen the eye, and lashings of my Full Fat Lashes mascara.
Penelope Pink. It’s the perfect universally flattering nude-pink. I created it especially for Penelope Cruz and used it on her at the Oscars this year.
Nail color of the moment:
I usually wear Tom Ford in Smoke Red on my toes but keep my fingers natural.
It’s a secret! I wear a personal mixed blend. People often ask me what I am wearing when I have no perfume on at all, and it is actually my delicious-smelling Oribe Dry Texturizing spray. It smells divine.
“Never without” product:
Magic Cream. I never start a makeup look without it. I used to mix pots of it backstage at shoots, shows and campaigns to use on exhausted models, photographers and even designers. It’s the ultimate turnaround for tired, dull and dehydrated skin.
Secret to staying young and beautiful:
Sunscreen! Sun is beauty suicide. I swear by Institut Esthederm SPF50 to protect my delicate skin and I wear an Audrey-esque wide-brimmed hat during summer.
