The celeb colorist extraordinaire and owner of an eponymous New York salon tells us what’s in her beauty arsenal

marie2Morning routine:
I have really sensitive skin, so I keep simple with Biologique Recherche Lait E.V. and Crème Hydravit’S. I love Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer around my nose and on my dark circles because it never looks like concealer. I finish with mascara on my top lashes and NARS Blush in Orgasm on my cheeks.

Overnight skin ritual:
The Shiffa Healing Balm

Who cuts/colors your hair:

At Marie Robinson Salon, Meg Sanchez Hartigan does my platinum color and Tom Gallagher has cut my hair for 11 years!

Hair habit:
I always go to bed with a damp head. I like to scrunch my hair into the pillow, so I wake up with twists and bends all over the place. And to keep it healthy, I swear by ColoristCure conditioning treatment.

Favorite eye look:

I have two: no makeup with a black dot on my lower eyelid like a doll, or thin cat eye liner with Chanel Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Noir and a bold mascara like Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

Go-to lipstick:
The NARS Lipsticks in Goodbye ‎Emmanuelle or Schiap. My new favorite is the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Muse.

Nail color of the moment:
I prefer short, oval, clear nails. I keep them simple and clean as they are so visible to clients. I don’t have time for regular manicures, so I don’t have to worry about chipped nails.

Signature scent:
For 13 years I have worn Costume National Milk. It’s a subtle, unique scent that works well with my body chemistry.

Never without product:
It’s not a product but an accessory: a ribbon. It’s usually a black or pale pink satin ribbon—great for throwing in my hair or a making little bow around my neck when I want to look a little perkier.

Secret to staying young and beautiful:
Smile ,smile, laugh. Don’t be afraid to be expressive, even if you look goofy doing it. I truly believe it’s keeping me young.
