The Australian chanteuse, whose rich, husky voice paired with her soulful lyrics make it easy to fall in love with her beautiful songs, divulges what she’s got on her beauty radar at the moment
Morning routine:
Immediately after showering I moisturize my face with Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 15 and then my body with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter SPF 15. Sun protection and skin health is very important to me, so I put on moisturizer with SPF every day, even in the winter. I like to use makeup as an enhancer rather than to create something that isn’t there, so keeping a basic natural look has always been my go-to. If I only do one thing, I swipe on some of Revlon’s Powder Blush in Berry Rich for an instant quick lift and curl my eye lashes. I’m drawn to warm rose shades and browns as well as long dark lashes and natural thick eyebrows like my beauty icons Jane Birkin and a young Brooke Shields!
Overnight skin ritual:
Remove any make up and wash face with cold water, then moisturize with Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 15 again.
Who cuts/colors your hair:
I don’t color my hair and much to my mother’s dismay, I rarely get my hair cut these days as I like it long and disheveled. But when I need a freshening up or my ends done, I go to Lee Preston salon in my hometown of Perth, Australia.
Hair habit:
I wash my hair everyday with TRESemmé Anti-Breakage shampoo and conditioner, then always allow it to dry naturally. My hair is wavy and quite thick, so for a relaxed but more-polished look I curl it with a thick-barrel curling iron on low heat to create more defined but loose curls. Once a week I put Pantene Curly Hair Series Deep Moisturizing Treatment in and leave for at least an hour before rinsing out with cold water.
Favorite eye look:
For events and shows, a subtle purple-and-pink-color palette contrasts well with my green eyes as well as a waterproof mascara such as Clinique Lash Power Mascara. For eyeshadow I use Covergirl Eye Enhancers in 705, made especially for green eyes. If I want something more subtle for day I use any normal brown shade from the pharmacy with light-handed mascara. I also curl my eye lashes everyday.
Go-to lipstick:
I prefer natural-looking, rose-colored lipsticks like Smashbox’s Photo Finish Lipstick in Delightful or Becca Cosmetics’s Beach Tint in Watermelon. If I’m feeling in need of a drastic change or want to boost a plain outfit, I’ll wear Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme in Fire & Ice for a dramatic red boost.
Nail color of the moment:
I always love a natural pale pink because it goes with every outfit like Essie Sugar Daddy or Essie Muchi Muchi for bubblegum sweetness! Again, for a more dramatic lift, I’ll wear a deep red like Essie Bold & Beautiful.
Signature scent:
Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb.
“Never without” product:
I love clear, healthy skin, so when an unwelcome blemish surfaces I have the best tools to get rid of it as fast as possible. First I use a tiny spot of B. Kamins Blemish Gel with 10% benzoyl peroxide. You apply it 3 times a day and it dries the spot out as quick as possible. Then I use a sparing dab of Yves Saint Laurent Teint Radiance with SPF 20 to conceal. These are my go-to products in times of despair! I also find (as many many others have too) drinking a ton of water everyday is the easiest, most natural healing tool for a radiant complexion.
Secret to staying young and beautiful:
It’s really no secret, but people always want a quick-fix formula. The truth is tried and tested—a healthy diet and regular exercise routine are so important in obtaining clear, glowing skin as well as hugely beneficial for self-confidence and feeling great internally. Being in love and happy with your work and relationships also reflects greatly on the outside, I feel.
