Maximize your manicure with Ciaté’s new velvet-textured nail kit
Not quite ready to rock the super-glam velvet fashion seen on recent runways? Take baby steps towards seduction with these svelte velvet fingertips.
British nail brand Ciaté’s previous mega-hit, the Caviar Manicure kit, brought on instant salivation with delicious looking (and equally inventive) sprinkle-like nail beads. And now they’re back to taunt us once more with another DIY kit, the luxurious, semi-matte Velvet Manicure, that is sure to induce compulsive nail petting and illicit cravings for red velvet cake.
Created by Ciaté’s genius creative director Charlotte Knight, the crushed velvet polish comes in three shades—a deep purple, a dark blue, and a light grey. Though you may fear a complicated application process for such a decadent concept, the two-step kit is surprisingly easy to master. Working on one nail at a time, apply one layer of colored lacquer (it’s a smooth and opaque formula) and let dry. Apply a second layer and immediately follow with the crushed velvet flakes. Cleanup is a cinch—sweep the mini brush over any pesky residue around the nail for a clean, chic finish. Avoid brushing on top of the nail to leave your manicure with a slightly fuzzy, though oh-so-touchable texture. The best part? No topcoat necessary! Ah, music to our ears (and nails). $19
