The in-demand fashion designer—and mother of two beautiful girls—shares how she stays gorgeous and on-trend despite an exhausting schedule
Morning routine:
I use vbeauté (Eye Never and Buying Time Everyday Crème) then Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation. I love the coverage for day and evening, and it feels very light. I use Chantecaille New Stick to cover under-eye circles and any blemishes. I stay away from powder since I prefer a shinier look these days, but I spend some time filling in my brows to correct the plucking damage I did in the ’90s and use the brow liner to pop my beauty mark a bit more.
I also love rosy/coral-colored cheeks with a bit of bronzer for summer. I don’t have a favorite, but I like the Too Faced Brightening Blush in Papa Don’t Peach. I finish it all off with a heavy hand of mascara—I alternate between my all time favorite Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effect Faux Cils and my new favorite MAC False Lashes. I like to rim inside my eyes with Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Clair #69—it brightens up your eye. And when my eyes are bloodshot nothing works better than Rohto, the Japanese eye drops that refresh and whiten. And I never forget sunblock since I live in LA now—I use Peter Thomas Roth Max All Day Moisture Defense Cream.
Overnight skin ritual:
I let my skin breathe without product every other night. Before bed five times a week I use LightStim on my face and neck. It’s an LED-light therapy treatment and stimulates collagen production. On the other nights, I use Cosmedix Rescue Balm and Mask. It is heavy, but it is great for hydration. I also use an under-eye cream either by vbeauté or Kanebo. I also started sleeping on a satin pillow to keep my hair less frizzy—and I hope if keeps the wrinkles away!
Who cuts/colors your hair:
Jorge Serrano at Chris McMillan Salon. He just turned me into a redhead for summer—he’s excellent!
Hair habit:
I get weekly blow outs from Colleen Conway, and I’m blessed with hair that holds for a long time so I wash it as little as possible. That way it keeps the natural oils in and maintains the color longer. If I’m going for a curly look, I wash my hair and leave in Kerastase Chroma Riche conditioner, let it dry naturally and then go over the curls with a 1-inch curling iron, wrapping the sections, holding them for 20 seconds and then releasing. I pull the ends down to look more natural.
Favorite eye look:
I’m not so good with eye make up so my go-to is liquid eyeliner in dark brown or gold. Other than that I love big eyelashes, top and bottom, for a ’60s/’70s look.
Go-to lipstick:
Any Tom Ford lipstick. I adore True Coral and Flamingo for summer. I love anything coral for summer… especially if you’re tan.
Nail color of the moment:
Today I’m wearing Chanel Gold Fingers to go with my Vegas outfits from the weekend. But mostly I have started having my nails cleaned and buffed instead of [lacquered with] colors. My job is pretty hard on my nails, and I really don’t like chipped polish.
Signature scent:
Tom Ford Santal Blush.
“Never without” product:
Eyebrow pencils and lip gloss.
Secret to staying young and beautiful:
Water, monthly facials from Brandi at Esthetica (by appointment only), live, be thankful and smile.
