Follow this nail-art tutorial for a fun, paint-splattered design in just three easy steps

Paint Splatter How-ToWe partnered up with Julep, the nail polish gurus behind an eponymous line of nail polish and the Julep Maven program—a customized subscription to monthly selections of seasonal nail lacquer (and the latest and greatest mani/pedi products) sent directly to your home—to create a quick, step-by-step tutorial capturing a fun nail art trend we’re loving for a day by the pool: paint splatter. “We love nail art because we think it is a fun and modern way for people to express themselves creatively and fashionably,” says Julep’s Heather Harrington. “Why paint your nails just one color when you could have something fun and eye catching that will really get people talking? It is a great form of expression and always adds the perfect amount of flair to any look.”

The paint splatter design can be accomplished with just a couple tools and in a few steps. “The only tools you need are a dotting tool (or orange wood stick) and a needle. What is so great about this is that it takes less then three steps, and if you mess up, no one would ever know,” says Harrington. While this color combo is perfect for summer, you could combine other shades to create a more subdued or bolder look. “Right now we are loving incorporating super bright brights and shocking neons into our nail art, and those particular colors against the white base coat turned out to look just perfect.” Harrington sees this style as versatile, transitioning from a day of shopping to a night on the town. “The paint splatter design work on anyone who loves to have fun, loves fashion and is a sucker for the little details.”
